#BackPain

So, I did something to the muscles in my back/neck. It hurts a lot on the right side of my back and neck, and turning my head is painful.

And it hurts. Pretty seriously.

Boyfriend hasn’t found a way to fix it yet.

Unfortunately, sitting at my table drawing is aggravating it big time, so expect short posts this week.

Luckily I have some muscle relaxers from a previous issue. WOO!

Anyone have any good back injury advice?

  1. Move more. Probably lots more. Do yoga several times a week. Need not go to a studio, get a DVD and follow along. Do not go the pills route, with minor exceptions. That road leads downhill to an addiction problem because it just covers up the real problem

  2. At least you have those muscle relaxers. Couple those with a puff or two of Boyfriend's natural happy-helper and you won't even know you have a back. I guess if you want a practical answer Keith has some good ideas, but they don't involve sweet sweet intoxicating relaxation. (Angel on the shoulder, meet Devil.)

  3. What Keith said. I know you think that not moving makes this weird, but that actually seems like the exact reason why this happened. Just try to stretch your body a little more, move around more, etc. Sitting all day isn't good for the body, and can lead to stuff like this.

Uh oh, a serious, well thought out answer? I mean, uh, have you tried drinking yourself unconscious? You can't feel pain if you're blacked out in an Applebee's bathroom.

  4. I disagree with Keith. Take pills. Become an addict. It's totally worth it.

  7. Heat, heating pads are the best! Also take something for inflammation such as tylenol. It will help with pain also. I deal with back issues every day, so take it easy missy!

  8. oh no. I suffer from back pain, sometimes extreme, sometimes not, but usually pretty constant. I like tiger balm, heat pads, massages and hot baths. Hope you feel better soon! and totes looking forward to the post on cheese.

  10. Yeah, I have to agree with the others. I used to have chronic back pain until I started exercising...just moving around and stretching out your muscles more can help. Especially if you're sitting at a desk or hunkered over your drawings. If I draw in weird position it definitely tweaks my neck. Gentle twisting from side to side can help loosen things up a bit. You could google back stretches, and just make sure you do them slowly and gently. Hope you're better soon!

  11. That's cute! But seriously, you should probably have had that checked out immediately. Damages and diseases tend to start off slight. Not to be too grim about it, but at least you could be more than sure. If it does come down to it, have it corrected through a bit of therapy. Hope that's been dealt with though, and not a problem anymore. Kudos to a great strip!
