Looper: A Review

Boyfriend and I watched Looper last weekend.  It was alright.

Men. You'd think they'd know the nose of one of their heroes.

This happened a bunch of times in the movie
This is where I gave up.

He gets time travel more than I do

Anyway, yeah. One incredibly disturbing scene, Bruce Willis shooting a lot of people, and some shaky time travel logic. Overall, not bad.

  1. I'm with Boyfriend, the time travel logic is SUPER shaky. If Doc Brown were in this, he'd warn them of destroying the time space continuum. I thought it was predictable but got excited when I saw the dad from "Raising Hope."

  2. I have a hard time getting into any movie with Bruce Willis in it. And John Travolta. And Sylvester Stallone. And that dark haired guy from Meet the Fockers. And Nicolas Cage.

I don't watch very many movies.

  3. I saw this just two days ago!

I loved it. I think if I can walk away from a time-travel movie and NOT be confused, it wasn't a very good time travel movie.

Which is why Primer was so excellent.

  4. This is next on my "must see" list. Seems I will be needing more wine and to brush up on me time travel knowledge. Yippy-ki-aye!

  6. I thought it was pretty decent - but I'm also a JGL and Bruce Willis fan. It got points from me for originality.

  7. We saw this last weekend too and while the time travel is a bit wibbly-wobbly we mostly enjoyed it. I'm with Annie Jay too, it got points for originality. Hollywood doesn't do much original stuff any more. Sigh.

  8. #1 - THAT'S why JGL didn't really look like himself and I was confused as to if that was him even though I knew it was him? (I had a very scary Jessica Simpson moment during the movie "is this chicken what I'm eating or is it fish? I know it's tuna but it says 'Chicken of The Sea'." Yeah, you know where I'm going with this.)

#2 - I wonder if your disturbing scene was my disturbing scene? Probably.

#3 - Very good movie but why that ending? I needed more.

  9. I think the only reason I would watch this would be to see Bruce Willis. I still have a crush on him from Pulp Fiction. Not sure why but I loved that character!

  12. Doesn't sound like my kind of movie, which means it's probably not for fussy old people who loved Midnight in Paris and Hugo and The Artist.

    Love,

  13. Wow, sounds like my kind of movie! Or rather, looks like my kind of movie, judging from the drawings. I think maybe I like the drawings better than I'd like the movie.

  14. I've really wanted to go see this. I really like Gordon-Levitt, makes me have faith that I too as a skinny person can look good.

  15. I just kinda shut off my brain going into it, knowing that their time travel logic probably wouldn't be solid. Also, in some regards, I can appreciate the prosthetic nose, but in other ways, I wish they would have gone without it. I can excuse a movie for taking liberties with someone's future self looking a little different, but I spent half the damn movie staring at his nose thinking, "God he looks weird like that."

  17. Thanks for the heads up on the disturbing scene, I will remember to avert my eyes! I have a terrible memory for the things of the "can't unsee" variety

  18. I actually fell asleep during Looper, which is something I have never done before in a movie theater.
