The only things that leave a mark are the sun and jellyfish. Some medications will do that when you are exposed to the sun.
The hell? I've never heard of a "beach rash." Did you swim somewhere near a pollution run-off? Maybe you have a recessive albinism gene and found out the hard way that you have to stay out of the sun?
