Pumpkin Spice My Life

Not since I changed her diet, thank you very much.

Boyfriend gardens. He's very impressive.

Those gross candy pumpkins are the most delicious and disgusting things on earth.

Yep, I was obsessed with pumpkin all weekend.

I did, and it's freaking delicious.

But then I crossed a line.  I made a stir fry of eggplant, broccoli, soy black beans, and tempeh for my work lunch.

So, I dumped more pumpkin sauce on it. And it then looked incredibly unappetizing.

Sigh. I took it too far, you guys. Too far.

Is there a food/flavor you pushed too hard?

  1. If pumpkin spiced things were that good, they'd be offered year-round. This seasonal nonsense is a marketing ploy to push overpowering flavor on a society whose palate already lacks appreciation for subtlety. It's the McRib of spices.
That's right! Shots fired, Pumpkin Spice!

  2. There's nothing wrong with making something that turns out unappetizing.

I mean, it could have turned out to be fantastic.

I spit an awful lot of things into the garbage while thinking, "Well, that one could have gone either way."

  3. Most of the time "pumpkin spice" flavored foods and drinks don't have a single shred of pumpkin. It's just cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and nutmeg. No pumpkin at all. The whole thing is a lie. You're welcome.

  4. Haha! I know how you feel. Pumpkins in Greece are so underappreciated, i do not know why...I make a lot of things with pumpkins and gourds these days and when i tell in advance the ingredients people are like"meh, no thank you". But when i don't they end up liking my weird concoctions. But, one has to restrain oneself. It can be too much pumpkin!

  5. Ever eat the flesh of a pumpkin straight from the source?? Tastes nothing like a pumpkin spice latte. I'm gonna go ahead and call bullshit on most pumpkin flavors. But I might be pmsing too. So there's that.

    Hugs!

I freaking LOVE those candy pumpkins. That's why I haven't purchased any since 2011.

    Love,

  7. Nah, I'm in the less-is-more school. However I've known many more-is-more cooks. Like my friend whose herb omelette was literally, entirely GREEN. Like, Green Eggs and Ham green. I'd rather have some pumpkin pie.

  8. Love pumpkin season! I admit it's gotten a little out of hand, as much as I love pumpkin, but I'm not gonna complain, because I don't want my pumpkin eating options limited.
