This week in point/counterpoint: Thanksgiving.
Boyfriend disagrees.
(I wrote about that here)
Ok, I’m exaggerating Boyfriend’s enthusiasm slightly, only
because he’s not really that giddy about anything ever. But where do you guys
fall on Thanksgiving?
As someone from rainy England I don't celebrate Thanksgiving, but I would totally want to! Days off work and FOOD! oh I'm totally with boyfriend on this. x
ReplyDeleteCome on, Thanksgiving is great...provided you're not visiting your family. It's two days off of work and epic binging. You don't HAVE to go see your family. Have one of those orphan Thanksgivings with just friends, it makes it a lot more fun. Tell the family it's too expensive to go to them just to watch douche bags eat turkey. Maybe with less honesty, though.
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving is now just another poor holiday, raped and violated and left in a snowbank by rabid corporate interests pushing their consumerized cheap shit from China onto the masses at every opportunity, using every trick in the book, and trying out new ones invented by the bloodless zombies inhabiting the desks, all for the glorification and enrichment of the tiny slice at the top with the least ethics, morals, and scruples of anybody outside the Vatican or the Pentagon.

ReplyDeleteSorry, typo so let's try again... TG is the BEST HOLIDAY EVER! No presents to give just lots of yummy food. Make it vegetarian if you want to... The side dishes are where it's at anyway. Maybe a good time to try out some new recipes you've been wanting to. And... Pickleope has it right, just don't visit your family... Plus, my BDay is always within a few days (or on) TG, so I get presents...lol. Stay home with BF and enjoy it, minus the turkey, of course.
DeletePersonally, I love Tgiving. 2 days off work, I'm taking the other 3 as vacay so I'll have the whole week off! Yummy food cooked by my Mom, my Dad's bday is on Turkey day. We have a small family so it will be just the 4 of us. I'm sending boyfriend to have turkey day with his family so as not to step on toes, so everyone's happy! Plus, Mom loads me down with leftovers that usually last me awhile..what is bad about all that? Not a damned thing!
ReplyDeleteOh and one more thing, I get to decorate for Christmas!! My favorite thing to do!
ReplyDeleteAll it is missing is the presents!
ReplyDeleteWilly Dunne Wooters and I will be together for Thanksgiving. I'm going to cook until we're in a food-induced stupor. He will be amazed by the fabulous meal. I like Thanksgiving when I don't have to spend it alone.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Bah humbug.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Four day weekend. Get to engorge on delicious food and dessert for a day. Football!
ReplyDeleteFood. Coma.
I'm the only one in my entire family who can cook worth a damn, so to me, Thanksgiving is merely a great opportunity to chat with family members I don't normally get to see. As for the food... choking down dry turkey, bland mashed potatoes, and a bag salad are not my idea of a good time.
ReplyDeleteI saw a holiday card you will love. 'Tis the season to have your life-decisions judged around the family table....
ReplyDeleteYep, it's that time of year. Humbug, and pass the liquor.
I get to eat all of the foods, watch parades and listen to Christmas music. Thanksgiving is amazing to me.
ReplyDeleteIt's a holiday centered around food. I love it! And I drink a bottle of wine the night before while making cheese cake so no one can judge me!
ReplyDeleteIt's one of the few times where I can gorge myself on delicious ham for food so I'm all for it.
