My office has been just filled with junk food lately.
Part of this is my fault, seeing as how I organized an
office bake-off to get everyone to bring in baked goods for me to eat.
Anyway, then my coworkers brought in extra Halloween candy
and Halloween munchkins and it’s just been a junk food fest all week. I finally
decided to take control.
Easier said than done.
It went on like this until noon.
And that is how I managed to not have a bagel on bagel
Friday.
I saw Boyfriend after work and he wasn’t terribly impressed
with my achievement.
Do you guys have treats at the office? Do you ever manage to resist them??
Office treats will be the death of me. All will power just vanishes before a plate of cookies.
ReplyDeleteWhat, you resisted teh allure of free office food? Wha...H--How did you do that? Are you some sort of magician? WHAT KIND OF BLACK MAGIC IS THIS!?! Also, is "black magic" racist? Regardless, let's tie this witch up and see if she can float! No one but a witch could resist free office goodies, least of all warm bagels!
ReplyDeleteI used to be the one who always brought in those devilish treats.. I was the most loved and hated woman in the office. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm proud of you, Gia. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's all or nothing with me. I either eat none of the treats or all of the treats.
ReplyDeleteOver 40 years, I blame office birthday cake for at least 9 pounds.
ReplyDeleteResistance is futile!!
ReplyDeleteToday we have our monthly business meeting/potluck. I made puppy chow and I'm going to get yelled at for it :)
My office keeps bringing in those tubs of Red Vines. I can't resist. Especially when they are "fresh". My addiction has gotten so bad that I'm pretty sure I no longer care for the taste of them yet I'm still eating them every afternoon.
ReplyDeleteMy office is the extra bedroom in my house. I can avoid eating crap if I don't buy it. But when I worked in a doctor's office – oi! – you wouldn't have believed the stacks of candy and all sorts of treats that we received from other doctors. It was all piled up in one room. I kept sneaking in there between patients.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
This is the worst time for office treats, and with Christmas coming, it'll only get worse. I find the best way to resist temptation is to not resist at all.
ReplyDeleteI have a problem with willpower.
We have bagels and donuts and other treats on Friday mornings. I think I'm just going to have to be fat or something. Food is just too good!
ReplyDeleteYou are so strong. My office's bagel Friday is my hell
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Valerie
You DO deserve a medal. By the way, is bagel Friday a thing? I'm thinking of bringing it to my office. Which, as I work from home, means me and my fat dog will eat ALL THE BAGELS and happiness will ensue x
ReplyDeleteMy office is my home and my home has lots of cereal and cookie packages for Noah's lunches and a GIGANTIC bag of Halloween candy and chocolate syrup and chocolate chips and sliced cheese and orange juice and cinnamon/sugar/bread for cinnamon toast.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of moving.
Office treats galore! Sometimes someone bakes and brings in goodies; other times leftovers from meetings will be dropped off in our coffee room. Depending on what it is I can often resist. For example, my "neighbor" still has a heaping bowl of candy corn on her desk. I haven't touched one! On the other hand, whenever Karen bakes cupcakes (whatever kind they are) I MUST have one! Or five. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI use to keep this dish of different candy on my work desk. It took me a long time to get the mix of candy Just.Right. chocolate covered almonds, sour patch kids, red swedish berries, maltesers, and black jelly beans. People hated me! they called me Evil candy tempting skinny bitch - but I am sure they said it with affection.
ReplyDeleteI used to roller blade to work back then, so I worked it all off. Guess I forgot to mention that. whoops. my bad.
Now I just take my sugar by rubbing it directly on my ass -- cuz it's just going straight there anyway. :)
Surprisingly, to anyone who has worked with me before, I have lately found that I can more easily resist the unhealthy but tasty foods people bring in at various times, like cake and donuts and things of that sort. I don't know what changed about me exactly, but I suspect the constant stress keeps my stomach squeezed so tight that I can't fit anything in it.
ReplyDeleteI eat all day at the office. Snacks, meals, bagels. It's bad. Good thing I go to the gym every week!
ReplyDeleteI think you deserve so much credit. We have someone who brings in munchkins every once in a while and it's the hardest to say no. (I don't) And now that it's holiday find it will be nothing but treats. I'm going to do my best this year.
