As I've mentioned before, I think Trump is a dumpster fire clown fascist and things in this country are going very badly.
However, like lots of families, some of my relatives disagree. Some are trump supporters, some think hillary literally killed vince foster and some just like to start shit. Others are very conservative catholics who think abortion is the only policy issue that matters.
I had to attend a birthday party with them all this weekend, which is always a struggle. Because this:

ReplyDeleteI used to be able to make lukewarm, noncommittal statements around mixed company when it came to politics, just to get to the next subject. It's not possible to do that with Trump, in part because both sides feel so strongly about him.
It's getting tough. I have to fake a heart attack once in a while to get out of talking about him.
I find it best to avoid such get-togethers. Kudos to you!

My step-dad and I had to come to an agreement after everything I said caused him to roll his eyes so hard that he rolled his entire head, yet, somehow, couldn't come up with a cohesive, non Fox-newsy nonsense retort. I had to have a child just so I didn't have to go visit at holidays. Yep, that's the only reason.

There is no escaping the perilous times we are currently living in. Honestly, not talking about all of this is how we ended up here in the first place, so yeah, I'm going to talk about the current state of affairs and how I hate it and I think the idiot in the White House is the biggest piece of shit since R Kelly. And if someone disagrees, that's on them.
