Sobriety

So, I'm still in my month of no drinking. 

It's been...hard. 

Ugh. And Boyfriend is actually traveling right now, which is making it harder to not drink. On a weekend if I"m chilling by myself, I always have a glass of wine at night before I go to bed. 

But now it's all bad sad times. 

Anyway, I am glad that I'm doing it, if for no other reason than I'm proving to myself that I can. I also am still having some tummy troubles in the morning, and it's actually good to know that it's not because of my drinking. (On the flip side, it's bad not knowing what's causing it and how to stop it.)

All that being said, I'm definitely looking forward to next Friday. Just one more week. 

Am I losing it a little bit? Maybe. 

The Bad Idea

Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving! 

I decided this was a good idea: 

Why? I don't know. I had been away from kitty for a few nights and felt bad, and thought maybe she'd get along with Boyfriend's kittens. 

Right away, I should have known better. 

Anyway, I got her in the car for the short 20 minute ride. 

Yep, she threw up at approximately minute 18 of 20. And the way home the next day? Puked her little kitty guts out again (whilst jumping from the back seat to the front, to make sure she got the whole interior).

If anyone needs me, I'll be cleaning out my car and looking up car sear covers on amazon. Sigh.

The Giant Zucchini

Farmer Boyfriend has a small vegetable garden in his backyard. 

oh hush.

Anyway, he brought me a present this weekend. 

Seriously, I should have taken a good photo of it. It was about the size of my cat. Probably 8 pounds. No joke. 

So I googled recipes on Saturday to figure out what to do with it. 

I decided on a zucchini egg bake. You shred the zucchini in a food processor, fry it a little on the stovetop, and bake with eggs and cheese. 

So on Sunday morning, I began my work. 

But do you know how long it takes to shred and fry that much zucchini? I had to do it in batches. Many, many batches. 

(I should note that the kitchen is the hottest room in my apartment in the summer, even without turning both the stovetop and oven on.) I don't want to say I was "hysterical" by the fourth batch, but things weren't looking great. 

Finally, after many hours of cooking and sweating and washing dishes, the zucchini bake was done. 

You guys can probably see this coming, can't you?

Yep. Goddamnit, that's what I get for trying. 

MacBook Shopping

My wonderful old macbook is on its last legs, so I've been looking at getting a new one.

We have the best date nights.

But the answer is no. No, I could not.

Yes bloggy friends, I'm coming to terms with investing an arm and a leg into a new laptop. 

How do you guys handle big purchases?

I'm Probably the Next Jane Fonda

I decided I should start moving around in an exercisey way, occasionally. After all, it's mid November and time to start thinking about those new year's resolutions.

I found a program on the internet to follow. It said beginner, but I think it lied.

Who thought of that stupid torture exercise, anyway?!?!

This shit is harder than it looks. I'm sore. 

Kitty doesn't need to work out, and she's FINE.

P-p-p-p Poker Face

Boyfriend recently suggested I learn how to play poker because I like some other card games.

This was probably a bad idea.

 I was so hopeful...

...and so let down.

Ok, I still have a lot to learn. Leave your best poker tips in the comments! (Also, if you play online, let me know where. I'm looking for reputable sites that won't get my computer all spammy.)
