No it's YOUR Sciatica

So...my back hurts. I'm not entirely sure what brought this on. I did feel pretty sore when I visited my parents and slept in my old twin bed for a few nights. It also gets a little hairy when I'm at Boyfriend's and the cats are there:

It's not easy to squeeze into that side!

But either way, I woke up a couple days ago and my back hurt. Bad.

The pain is shooting down my side and leg. Not good.

Boyfriend told me I had to do this thing called "stretching."

Honestly how dare he.

So, I've been heating and stretching and standing and sitting for a couple of days now. Hopefully it'll get better soon. Sciatica relief tips, anyone?

Throwback Thursday: Dentists are Sadists.

Sorry there was no post yesterday; I'm still working on the #backpain issue. Here's a throwback from 2012!

I had to go to the dentist last week. I was scared. Should I have been scared?  Yep.

So, here’s the quick and dirty background. My family lost their dental insurance when I was in high school, and I stopped going to the dentist.  I’ve had a little bit of work done when necessary, but no regular cleanings/checkups.

Until a few weeks ago, when I realized I’ve had dental insurance for over a year and no longer have any excuse for not going to the dentist.

So, I went.

On the up side, the hygienist was friendly and nice. Not like my last experience with Doctor.

On the down side, it was like a scene out of Dexter (not that I’ve ever seen Dexter. But I do have an imagination.)

It hurt. A lot. Even with the numbing gel.

You know it’s been too long since you went to the dentist when they have to say things like:

Let this be a lesson to you all.  Go to the dentist. Now. Before the plaque on your teeth hardens and the dentist has to use a scalpel to get it off and blood shoots everywhere and you’re totally traumatized.

And a quick follow up note: I had two cavities. I got one filled last week, and hung out with Boyfriend right after, when my mouth was still numb.

So quick, go to a dentist before you have to get a cavity filled and it looks like you have bells palsy and your significant other doesn’t want to kiss you.

#BackPain

So, I did something to the muscles in my back/neck. It hurts a lot on the right side of my back and neck, and turning my head is painful.

And it hurts. Pretty seriously.

Boyfriend hasn’t found a way to fix it yet.

Unfortunately, sitting at my table drawing is aggravating it big time, so expect short posts this week.

Luckily I have some muscle relaxers from a previous issue. WOO!

Anyone have any good back injury advice?

Burned Again!

I tried, you guys! I really did.

I burned the back of my legs badly. Sitting is a problem.

It takes a minute to register...

And I can't even complain to Boyfriend because this happened the last time I got burned

(But let's be honest, that didn't really stop me.)

See? A silver lining! Instead he can spray solarcaine all over me.
Anyone else get burned this weekend? Fess up!

Then Boyfriend Electrocuted Me

So, I’ve been having some bad muscle/neck pain lately. I’ve been getting some quick massages, which helps. Boyfriend also enjoys rubbing my shoulders when he comes over.

Anyhoo, Boyfriend recently saw a groupon for an electronic pulse massager and got it for me.

It arrived last weekend. Here’s a photo:

Essentially it was shaped like a small ipod, and attached to two electrode pads. It also came with slippers for massaging your feet.

To be honest, I had been a little concerned about hooking myself up to electrodes and sending pulses through my body.

So I tried it.

Boyfriend encouraged me to try all six modes.

The last one is a combination of the previous 5. So you don’t know when it’s fine and when it’s about to turn painful. I sense this is a problem.

Has anyone else tried this torture device massager? [And to be fair, the product totally worked. In a terrifying, awful way.]
