Throwback Thursday: Dentists are Sadists.

Sorry there was no post yesterday; I'm still working on the #backpain issue. Here's a throwback from 2012!

I had to go to the dentist last week. I was scared. Should I have been scared?  Yep.

So, here’s the quick and dirty background. My family lost their dental insurance when I was in high school, and I stopped going to the dentist.  I’ve had a little bit of work done when necessary, but no regular cleanings/checkups.

Until a few weeks ago, when I realized I’ve had dental insurance for over a year and no longer have any excuse for not going to the dentist.

So, I went.

On the up side, the hygienist was friendly and nice. Not like my last experience with Doctor.

On the down side, it was like a scene out of Dexter (not that I’ve ever seen Dexter. But I do have an imagination.)

It hurt. A lot. Even with the numbing gel.

You know it’s been too long since you went to the dentist when they have to say things like:

Let this be a lesson to you all.  Go to the dentist. Now. Before the plaque on your teeth hardens and the dentist has to use a scalpel to get it off and blood shoots everywhere and you’re totally traumatized.

And a quick follow up note: I had two cavities. I got one filled last week, and hung out with Boyfriend right after, when my mouth was still numb.

So quick, go to a dentist before you have to get a cavity filled and it looks like you have bells palsy and your significant other doesn’t want to kiss you.

#BackPain

So, I did something to the muscles in my back/neck. It hurts a lot on the right side of my back and neck, and turning my head is painful.

And it hurts. Pretty seriously.

Boyfriend hasn’t found a way to fix it yet.

Unfortunately, sitting at my table drawing is aggravating it big time, so expect short posts this week.

Luckily I have some muscle relaxers from a previous issue. WOO!

Anyone have any good back injury advice?

Throwback Thursday: How to Open a Bottle of Wine

Time for another Throwback Thursday! Enjoy this gem from 2012.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

As some of you may recall, Boyfriend and I are collecting wine corks.

We’ve made decent progress. We’re doing everything we can.

So I thought I’d give you some dos and don’ts for how to open a bottom of wine.

DO: Unscrew the top*
*For screw-top wines

DO use a wine opener

Preserve the cork. DON’T break it into pieces.

DON’T break the wine opener

If you broke the wine opener, then DON’T use a screwdriver and hammer

And definitely DON’T use your teeth.

Also DON’T try to break it open.
The wine will fall into the bowl, we'll strain the pieces of glass out and voila! Genius, no?
In conclusion, DO have an extra wine opener handy.

And now you know the right way to open a bottle of wine! What’s the weirdest way you’ve opened one? And seriously, what should I do with all these corks?!

Boyfriend's Career Choices

If you listened to the blogcast last week, you’ll know Boyfriend is not too happy at work right now, and is thinking seriously about his career. I figured since I wrote about career choices for myself not too long ago,  Boyfriend would benefit from the same.

Career Option 1

Career Option 2

Career Option 3

Notice the American flag pin. I'm all about accuracy here.

Did I say senator? I think I mean King of America. Same idea. Do you guys have any ideas for Boyfriend?
