So, Boyfriend and I watched Midnight in Paris awhile back. It was terrible. So terrible in fact, that I wanted to create a dramatic reenactment of us watching it.
SPOILERS AHEAD! Also, if you liked the movie, this review will probably offend you. My bad.

Sorry it seems backwards when I talk first. My B. |

I can never keep Owen/Luke Wilson straight. |

It was just a quick nap. |
After it was over:
Watch at your own risk, everyone.

[Edited to add: guys, I'm doing a link up! I think? I've never done this before don't judge me if I mess it up.]

If I ever feel the need to take a nap, I will be sure to watch this movie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a tragedy...you ran out of wine!
You're right, the acting was atrocious, to be fair, though, that's Owen Wilson's specialty. But Hemingway would totally act like that, he was a bit of a dick.
ReplyDeleteBoyfriend agrees that he was a dick, but that his portrayal was a bit...overdone.
Deletenever saw it but it didnt sound one bit nice from your review.
ReplyDelete:)
I didn't read the title carefully and thought this was about Last Tango in Paris...then, I thought maybe it's a remake...no can't be. Then I rechecked the title.
ReplyDeleteI had no intention of seeing this movie to start with and now...I've gotten all the entertainment out it that it possibly have provided.
I don't think I have ever seen that movie...so I think I keep it at that now.
ReplyDeleteLol it was soooo corny! Owen Wilson's poetic character is only funny when it's used in a satire... but when it's supposed to be deeply moving... *puke!* But totally worth the millions they put into it to read your post lol!
ReplyDeleteHow have I not even heard of it. Oh yeah, if it's a drama, or romantic comedy I pass.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the movie, but now, oddly enough, I want to!
ReplyDeleteMy lord that film does sound awful! Did you at least keep the humidifier close when you were drinking the wine?
ReplyDeleteOh God, I have to watch this soon. The hubby wants to see it and I have to watch this... ohhh nooooooo
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! I love your cartoons!! Is it bad that I kinda want to watch it now just because it'll be even funnier?xx
ReplyDeleteVery bad! The opposite of what I intended!
DeleteOOoo, yes it was bad. I turned it off around the time Adrien Brody started thumping his chest, saying "Dali! I'm Dali!"
ReplyDeleteI get the Wilson's confused too.
I haven't seen it. But it probably seemed worse since you didn't have adequate movie watching supplies and ran out. Just a theory.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen it. What was it *supposed* to be about?
ReplyDeleteOwen/Luke Wilson walks around paris at night and goes back in time. And his fiance is cunty. The end.
DeleteThis sucks, because now I just want to see it out of curiosity, after hearing how terrible it is. As a general rule of thumb, if it's a pretentious artsy movie that critics love... I'll hate it.
ReplyDeleteYou will hate it.
DeleteI had heard nothing but bad things so I won't be watching. Plus, Owen Wilson's nose frightens me. I think it's not actually a nose, but a ship filled with tiny aliens who are going to take over the world.
ReplyDeleteNever seen it, and now I never will. Oh well, not too upset. I always make sure I have a great stock of wine before watching any movie. Wine is a MUST.
ReplyDeletePoo! I wish you had written this a month ago before we rented it! Everyone told is it was amazing, such a good love story, and hilarious...I don't remember if I ever laughed once and I was so pissed that the fiance skanked around and got off the hook way too easily (especially by her parents!).
ReplyDeleteHahah I'm sorry you had to suffer too.
DeleteI always have this nagging doubt after watching a Woody Allen film...was it not very good or am I just too dumb to understand it?
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen it yet
ReplyDeletehahahaha!! Love it! This is a great way to review movies! I think you should do more movie review posts like this :-)
ReplyDeleteI wasn't planning to watch the movie, but now I kind of want to get plastered on cheap wine and give it a go ;-)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Glad I've never seen this. Now I never intend to lol
ReplyDeleteI kind of want to watch it now just to see what all the fuss is about.
ReplyDeleteI also can't tell which one if Luke/Owen. I do know that I think that they both suck though.
That's cute. I haven't seen that movie or even heard of it. I can help you with the Luke/Owen thing. Owen has blond hair and his nose is so big, so much bigger than Luke's that you say Oooooooooh my God Oooooowen has a big nose. My best friend thinks Owen is cuter. I think Luke is cuter.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
hahah OHHHHH OOOOOOOWEN. Yep, that should stick.
DeleteI am always worried about running out of wine. Story of my life.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see this movie but I will stock up on wine and get to it.
Glad I didn't try to watch that movie!
ReplyDeleteSooooo?! Did you still get it on?
ReplyDeleteHahha...yes.
DeleteLOL Stasha....that's exactly what I was wondering.
ReplyDeleteshould we demand a follow up?
Thank god I didnt watch the movie and thanks for the warning.
ReplyDeletehaha @stasha and @you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my space the other day. Sorry it took me so long to respond. Who knows what's going on with my comment notification system.
Next time try Blue Valentine with Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams.
Hey! If it made you think of sexytime, it can't be all bad! haha So very funny and love the cartoons!
ReplyDeleteANYTHING with Boyfriend makes me think of sexytime :P
Deleteand thanks lady!
Bahahahaha! You are too funny. I'm so glad I read this post instead of watched that movie.
ReplyDeleteI love that long green couch!
ReplyDeleteI'll make sure I avoid this movie at all costs. I barely get to see any with my girlfriend so I want to make sure the ones we do see are worth watching.
ReplyDeleteNever really fancied this movie much anyway.....xx
ReplyDeleteAll I have to say is: Thank God for wine and sexytime. Glad the movie sucked so we could have this hilarious post.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't feeling this movie either, but I've never been a Woody Allen film fan.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU! I absolutely hated this fucking movie and I AM actually a Woody Allen fan. Why the hell is everyone acting like it's so amazing? Rachel McAdams was just horrible- her character had absolutely no believable qualities. Ditto her parents. Owen Wilson was just Owen Wilson and YES, Ernest Hemingway??? Ugh, the only person I wanted to kill more was Adrien Brody as Salvador Dali.
ReplyDeleteMIDNIGHT IN PARIS SUCKS. Don't believe the hype
Moral of the story: never run out of wine.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree about Midnight in Paris being a terrible movie. I had my doubts right up until they introduced famous writers who only appear to drunken Owen Wilson when I finally decided this movie was unwatchable. Plus, I thought this movie was the Ms. Hilton sex tape, which I was watching strict as a joke, but she never made an appearance!
ReplyDeleteThe worst part of all of this is that I had come to trust the Tomato Meter before this movie was released. Now I don't know what to believe in anymore.
Hilarious! I'm glad to read your comedic post instead of actually going and seeing the movie, cuz it really put me off. (-:
ReplyDeleteHahahaha!! Love your comic strip commentary. And based on your reviews, I doubt I'll be watching that movie anytime soon ;)
ReplyDeleteIs it crazy that now I want to watch this movie? Because, dude, you have me curious. I'll go into it with no expectations and lots of wine and popcorn. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a Hollywood movie. Of course it was bad. What did you expect?
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious! I especially liked the ending. :) I saw the movie and liked it, but maybe that's because we hardly ever get out to see movies, so the novelty made me enjoy it. Oh yeah, when we saw it, we were also at the coast for a couple of days without our kids, so that was also probably a huge factor.
ReplyDeleteI like Owen's acting, but won't watch anything with Luke in it. He is horrible. Nice strip, though!
ReplyDeleteGreat post but it bummed me out bc I was really gearing up to see that movie!!
ReplyDeleteThis was hilarious! I'm not a Woody Allen fan, which means I liked the post even more. (Is that wrong?!)
ReplyDeleteWhy can't I figure out how to post a comment? I'm sorry, Lenore, but this is not actually in reply to you. It's the only way I could figure out how to comment. I now never ever want to see this. It's so bad, sexytime is out? Gah.
DeleteI just don't get Woody Allen or his movies. This post pretty much sealed the deal that I won't be watching Midnight in Paris!
ReplyDeleteLOL - Awesome post! Nothing worse than finally sitting down to watch a movie you think is going to be awesome and then it ends up being terrible. Very similar to my husband and I watching a bad movie as well. I love your comic strip telling the story, this was a good one!
ReplyDeleteTHANK GOD. I feel like the subtitle to this post should be "the emperor has no clothes." This was NOT a good movie, Lukowen (lukewarm?) Wilson is NOT a good actor...etc etc etc. Plus your cartoons are way the hell better than the movie.
ReplyDeleteMy sentiments EXACTLY. There wasn't a scene in this movie that rang true. For an idea with so much potential, Woody screwed the pooch to a ridiculous degree.
ReplyDeleteFunny stuff! I like the Woody Allen bit. I bet you weren't too far off.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying going through the archives. So this means you were always funny.
ReplyDeleteI started to watch it on the plane...I anticipated it was going to suck major balls within the first few scenes, so I switched it off and listened to the much more pleasant aircraft noises of pots clashing and people coughing. It was a better alternative.

ReplyDeleteI have yet to see it, but had heard negative reviews about it. Now I'm think about whether I want to watch it or not.. hehe
ReplyDeleteTo be fair though, Tom Hiddleston is a dead-ringer for F Scott Fitzgerald. And that 20's accent was hilariously accurate.
ReplyDeleteFor gawd's sake, it had Tom Hiddleston in it as F. Scott Fitzgerald! What the hell more do you want? And of all your commenters, only Marciana had the good taste and perceptiveness to focus her comment on him! *shakes head in disbelief*
